Without wasting another second on the stunned girl on the floor, David dropped to his knees at the edge of the pool. He reached his strong arms deep into the water, grabbing Martha’s trembling hands just as her head slipped below the surface again. With immense strength and care, David pulled the soaked, gasping elderly woman out of the deep water and onto the safety of the dry pool deck. He wrapped his expensive suit jacket around her shivering shoulders, comforting her softly and calling for immediate medical assistance. Martha wept tears of relief, holding onto David’s arm as the estate staff rushed forward with warm towels and water bottles to assist her.
Once he ensured Martha was completely safe and looked after by the staff, David stood up slowly to his full height. He turned his frame around to face Chloe, who was still cowering on the wet tiles, staring up at him with wide, terrified eyes. David raised his hand, pointing a finger directly at her face with an expression of cold, absolute disgust that made Chloe tremble from head to toe. "You're disgusting. Get out of my sight," David declared in a low, furious tone that carried undeniable authority. He made it abundantly clear that the engagement was officially over, the financial merger between their families was canceled, and she was to be removed from the estate grounds immediately.
Chloe tried to push herself up to beg for forgiveness, stammering out apologies and weeping loudly about her ruined dress and reputation, but David turned his back on her completely. Security guards stepped forward, taking the disgraced heiress by her arms and escorting her off the premises as the rest of the staff tended to Martha’s needs. The bright sun continued to shine over the clear waters of the pool, but the hierarchy of the Sterling mansion had changed forever, leaving a humbled bully to face the bitter reality of her own actions.
