Chapter 3

I looked directly into the camera. “Some people will lose their positions,” I said. “Not because they embarrassed me, but because they demonstrated that our standards meant nothing to them when they thought the passenger was powerless.”

Then I smiled slightly. “And Megan Wilson is watching this broadcast right now.”

The screen behind me changed again.

Megan's face appeared from the previous night's footage, frozen in the exact moment she had smiled while I was being dragged away.

“Ms. Wilson,” I said calmly, “your resignation is on your desk.”

The entire network went silent.

And then I added, “But we're not finished. There are three names on the second page of this report that will surprise everyone.”

PART 3: The broadcast remained silent for three full seconds after I mentioned the three names. Then the screen behind me changed, revealing a confidential internal report with three signatures highlighted in red. The first belonged to a regional operations director, the second to a senior security manager, and the third to someone sitting in Pinnacle’s executive suite. I watched thousands of employees lean toward their screens as the truth began to unfold.

“These three people,” I said, “were not involved because of what happened to me personally. They were involved because this was not the first complaint.” Naomi placed a stack of documents beside me, each containing reports from passengers and employees describing similar treatment. Some complaints had been ignored, some had disappeared, and others had been closed without meaningful investigation. The pattern was much larger than one flight attendant.

Then Denise Carver appeared again, visibly nervous but determined. She explained that she had previously reported concerns about passenger discrimination and improper security requests at several gates. Her reports had been forwarded to management, but she said nothing changed. I thanked her publicly and told every employee watching that speaking up would never again be treated as disloyalty.

A new document appeared on the screen. It showed that the security manager had approved a policy allowing certain employees to request additional screening based on vague “appearance concerns.” I looked directly into the camera. “A hoodie is not probable cause, and looking ordinary is not evidence of wrongdoing.”

Across the country, phones began lighting up as employees shared the broadcast. Some passengers from Flight 714 submitted their recordings to our legal team. One video showed the exact moment my boarding pass was scanned successfully before Megan approached me. Another captured Officer Miller laughing after I told him my name.

Naomi then revealed something even more damaging. The airline's previous leadership had received multiple complaints about the same group of employees but had chosen informal warnings instead of formal investigations. “That ends today,” I said. “Every complaint will be reviewed independently, regardless of the employee's position.”

Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for. I turned toward the camera and announced that Megan Wilson was no longer employed by the company, pending completion of the investigation into her conduct. Officer Miller and the other officers were outside the airline's authority, but our legal department had preserved the footage and would cooperate with any appropriate investigation.

The regional operations director resigned before the broadcast even ended. The security manager was placed on administrative leave, and the executive whose signature appeared on the final document was escorted from the headquarters conference room while thousands watched the internal stream. I did not celebrate. I simply closed the folder.

“I bought this airline because I believed it could become something better,” I said. “Yesterday, I learned exactly how much work that would require.” Then I removed the black hoodie from my chair and folded it carefully on the table. “And the next chapter begins with every employee knowing one simple rule: respect the passenger in front of you, especially when you think nobody important is watching.”

Before ending the broadcast, I received one final message from an unknown number. It contained a photograph of Row 12 from Flight 714 and six words: “You still haven't seen everything.” I stared at the message as Naomi slowly looked over my shoulder. Whatever had happened on that flight, someone had been watching from much closer than we realized.

The mysterious text message flickered against the cold glass of my phone, illuminating Naomi’s sharp jawline as she leaned closer. The photo attached was taken from seat 12B, capturing a man hidden behind an open financial magazine.

"Who is sitting in twelve B?" Naomi asked, her voice dropping into the quiet register she reserved for federal litigation. Her eyes scanned the blurred edges of the photograph, focusing on a heavy gold signet ring resting against the magazine's spine.

"Check the passenger manifest again," I told her, folding my sleeves up to my elbows. "Denise gave us the raw system dump from gate forty-two before Megan tried to erase the terminal logs. Look at the seat assignments immediately adjacent to fourteen A."
