Chapter 5 - The Multilingual Execution

The day of the wedding, the sunlight was so bright it was almost blinding. Julian had rented out the most luxurious estate in the Hamptons. The lawns were immaculately manicured, and a sea of white roses stretched from the entrance all the way to the ceremony stage.

The guests were gathered—business elites, high-society socialites, practically everyone with a name in the city.

Julian and Chloe stood on the stage, him handsome and suave, her stunningly beautiful. Their faces brimmed with happy smiles as they received everyone's blessings.

“Thank you, Chloe. When I was at the lowest point of my life, it was her who never left my side, giving me the courage to stand up again.” Julian held the microphone, beginning a new round of affectionate declarations, staring passionately at his bride.

Offstage, Chloe’s eyes reddened with emotion, putting on the act that she couldn't live without him in this lifetime.

Right at this moment, a small commotion rippled at the entrance of the venue.

I had arrived.

Wearing the fiery red gown, my long hair slightly curled, stepping on four-inch heels, I elegantly walked into the hall amidst the whispers. I wasn't wearing those thick glasses. My makeup was light, my eyes sharp and calm.

The powerful aura immediately sucked away everyone’s attention. The shock, probing, and anticipation for drama in their eyes—I took it all in.

Julian and Chloe saw me too.

A flash of panic crossed Julian’s eyes, subsequently replaced by smugness and defensiveness. Chloe straightened her back directly, like a triumphant peacock, looking at me provocatively.

I ignored them, walking straight to the main table and sitting in the seat Carter Brooks had saved for me. Carter raised his glass to me, undisguised admiration in his eyes.

The ceremony continued. The MC, using a wildly enthusiastic voice, announced: “Next, let us invite our friends and family onto the stage to send their blessings to the newlyweds!”

The moment his words fell, I stood up.

Under the astonished gazes of everyone, I smiled and was the first to step onto the stage.

Julian’s heart instantly leaped to his throat. He stared at me, his muscles entirely tense, ready to call security to drag me off at any second.

I took the microphone from the MC and tested the sound. Then, I turned to the highly guarded Julian and Chloe, revealing a nearly perfect smile.

“First, I would like to use our most common business language to bless CEO Hayes and Ms. Chloe.” I cleared my throat and spoke in fluent English, sounding exactly like a BBC anchor: “Wishing you both a prosperous life and a booming business.”

The English-speaking guests politely applauded, treating it as a normal congratulatory remark. But Julian’s brow furrowed slightly.

I didn't stop, continuing with a smile: “Of course, on a romantic occasion like today, it’s even more fitting to use the world's most romantic language to offer blessings.”

I turned to Chloe and spoke in elegant French: “May your friendship last forever, just like your love.”

This time, the guests who understood French revealed bizarre expressions. Wishing their friendship lasts forever? At a wedding?

Julian’s face began to look ugly. He glared at me, his eyes full of warning. I acted as if I didn't see it.
