Chapter 10 - The New Beginning

Six months later, the kitchen of the Hale mansion was beautiful, but it was no longer a hurricane photograph. It was a home.

It was 7:45 p.m. The white cabinets were clean, the gray marble counters gleamed, but there were five small stools lined up along the island.

Clara stood at the stove, a white apron over a beautiful cream sweater. Her left hand caught the light, a stunning, simple diamond ring glittering on her finger.

Beside her stood Victor, his sleeves rolled up, carefully grating fresh Parmesan cheese into a bowl.

Sitting on the stools were the five children. Mason, Cole, and Ryder were carefully arranging forks and napkins without a single fight. Theo and Lily were sitting close together, sharing a large drawing pad, sketching a massive castle with five little knights and a beautiful queen in pink glasses.

"Is the pasta ready, Mommy?" Lily asked, her pink glasses slipping down her nose as usual.

"Almost, bunny," Clara smiled, draining the pasta.

Theo picked up the wooden spoon, his face full of intense concentration as he helped Clara pour the egg and cheese mixture over the hot pasta, turning it into a smooth, silky sauce. The warm, comforting smell of bacon, garlic, and cheese filled the room—the identical smell from the night she first arrived.

At 7:50 p.m. sharp, all seven of them sat down at the large mahogany dining table.

Victor raised his glass of wine, looking around the table at his four happy, healthy sons, at his beautiful new daughter, Lily, and finally at Clara—the broke stranger who had walked into his storm and brought the sun.

"A toast," Victor said, his voice rich with a deep, profound happiness. "To the head of the household. The only nanny who survived dinner."

The quadruplets cheered, Lily laughed, and Clara reached across the table, her fingers locking tightly with Victor’s. The mansion outside was surrounded by the quiet winter night, but inside, the palace was full of light, love, and a family that would never be broken again.
