Chapter 6

Six months after Brett Vogle's death, the Costa mansion no longer felt like a fortress filled with secrets and fear.
Sunlight streamed through the tall windows, fresh flowers decorated the entrance, and laughter echoed through rooms that had once been painfully silent.
Bianca stood before her bedroom mirror, adjusting a soft pink sweater over her beautiful, heavyset figure.
Dante appeared behind her, smiling.
“You look incredible.”
She raised an eyebrow.
“Even in this sweater?”
“Especially in that sweater.”
Bianca laughed as he wrapped his arms around her thick waist and kissed her cheek.
The ruthless mafia boss who had once humiliated her now treated her with the tenderness she had always deserved.
But Bianca had demanded more than apologies.
She wanted a life built on respect.
And Dante had listened.
Over the following months, he gave her an equal voice in decisions affecting their future and began moving his legitimate businesses away from the violence that had once ruled his life.
Bianca also established a foundation supporting women who had experienced poverty, cruelty, and rejection.
She wanted them to discover their own strength without depending on anyone's approval.
One evening, Dante attended a charity dinner with her.
As Bianca entered the ballroom in a beautiful burgundy gown, conversations quieted.
Her broad shoulders were held proudly, her rounded stomach visible beneath the elegant fabric.
She made no attempt to hide her body.
Dante offered his arm.
“Ready, my queen?”
Bianca smiled.
“Always.”
Later that night, they returned home and sat together beside the fireplace.
Dante took her hand.
“Do you ever wish you'd walked away from me?”
Bianca considered his question.
“There was a time when leaving would have been the right thing to do.”
He nodded quietly.
“But you changed,” she continued. “And more importantly, I learned never to accept being treated as less than I deserve.”
Dante kissed her hand.
“I'll never forget that.”
Years later, people still whispered about the feared Chicago crime boss who had fallen deeply in love with a plus-size woman he once underestimated.
But Bianca never cared about those whispers.
She had built a life defined by confidence, compassion, and respect.
And when Dante looked at her, he no longer saw someone he had chosen to protect.

He saw the woman who had taught him that real strength meant knowing how to love without cruelty.
THE END.
