Chapter 5 - The Final ShowdownViktor spun around, dropping his hand.

Standing in the shattered doorway was Adrian Hale.

He had returned early. His suit jacket was off, his tie loosened, and his expression was a terrifying incarnation of cold fury. Flanking him were four members of his elite private security team, their expressions grim and professional.

For a second, Viktor looked stunned. Then he recovered his arrogant smirk.

"Ah, the billionaire playboy," Viktor mocked, stepping away from Maria. "You're trespassing in a legal family matter, Hale. I have a court-mandated custody retrieval order signed by Judge Navarro. Hand over the woman and the child, or I'll have you arrested for kidnapping."

Adrian didn't blink. He walked slowly into the room, stepping past the shattered door fragments, his dark eyes locked entirely on Viktor.

"Judge Navarro was arrested forty minutes ago by federal agents on corruption and bribery charges," Adrian said smoothly, his voice dropping into a deadly quiet register. "His digital signature is currently being scrubbed from every active docket in the state."

Viktor’s arrogant smile faltered. His eyes darted toward the security guards blocking the exit. "You're bluffing."

"Am I?" Adrian asked.

He pulled his encrypted phone from his pocket, tapped the screen, and tossed it onto the glass coffee table near Viktor. The screen was playing a live-feed video recording of Viktor’s primary financial warehouse being raided by federal authorities, safes being blown open, and his inner circle being led out in handcuffs.

"Your syndicate is dismantled, Viktor," Adrian said, closing the distance between them until he towered over the criminal by three inches. "Your accounts are seized. Your judges are behind bars. And you walked uninvited onto private property with forged documents."

Panicked and desperate, Viktor lunged toward his coat pocket, his hand flashing toward a concealed blade.

It was the worst mistake of his life.

Before Viktor’s fingers could even wrap around the handle, Adrian moved with blinding, cat-like speed. He grabbed Viktor’s wrist, twisted it upward with bone-crushing force until a sharp crack echoed through the room, and then delivered a devastating right hook straight to Viktor’s jaw.

Viktor collapsed heavily onto the Persian rug, unconscious before he even hit the floor.

Adrian’s security guards moved instantly, zip-tying the two remaining thugs and dragging all three men out of the nursery without a single wasted motion.

Silence descended upon the room once more, broken only by the sound of rain tapping against the glass and Alina’s soft breathing.

Adrian exhaled slowly, adjusting his cuffs. He turned around, his fierce expression instantly melting away as he looked toward the corner of the room.

Maria was sliding down the wall, clutching Alina, sobbing uncontrollably—not from fear anymore, but from the shattering weight of a nightmare finally coming to an end.

Adrian crossed the room in two strides, dropping to his knees beside her. He pulled them both into his arms, wrapping his strong, steady frame around them like an impenetrable fortress.

"It's over, Maria," he whispered against her hair, his voice thick with emotion. "It's finally over."
