But when Noah had acted with courage beyond his age, Grant’s first instinct had been to suspect him.
“Have you found Kendra?”
“We found the vehicle she used. Traffic footage shows another person in the passenger seat wearing the uniform of your contracted security company.”
“Who?”
“We’re working on identification.”
Grant thought of Noah reacting to every uniform in the hospital.
“He saw him.”
“Probably.”
“And he thought the man might be here.”
“That would explain why he would not speak.”
Grant pressed his fingers against his eyes.
“No,” he said. “That explains why he didn’t trust the uniforms.”
