Thomas agreed to surrender voluntarily to investigators in Denver.
He was seventy-one.
Thin.
Silver-haired.
Alive.
When DNA testing later confirmed his identity, Laura cried for hours.
Not because she wanted him back.
Because for twenty-nine years she had mourned a man who had chosen to disappear.
Thomas’s story was as ugly as the rest.
He admitted the affair with Margaret.
