Chapter 4 - A Mother’s Reunion

Dante immediately holstered his weapon and knelt beside Rachel, pulling a pocketknife to slice through the heavy ropes binding her wrists and ankles.

“Are you hurt?” he asked gently, catching her as her hands came free.

Rachel collapsed against his chest, sobbing hysterically—not out of fear, but out of sheer, overwhelming relief. “Noah... he walked through the city alone?! Oh God, is he really hurt?!”

“He’s tough,” Dante said, lifting her carefully into his arms just as he had promised the boy. “He has your courage.”

As Dante carried Rachel toward the exit, a fleet of black sedans screeched to a halt outside the warehouse. Silas Vance himself—surrounded by ten heavily armed men—stepped out into the rain, his face twisted in fury as he saw Dante walking out with Rachel.

“Caruso!” Silas roared, drawing his weapon. “You’ve crossed the line! You don't walk into my territory and take my prisoners!”

Dante didn't even slow his pace. Matteo and twenty of Caruso’s elite guards stepped forward, raising heavy assault rifles in a synchronized, lethal display of overwhelming force.

Silas’s men immediately froze, realizing they were completely outmatched and outgunned.

Dante stopped ten feet from Silas, holding Rachel securely against his chest.

“Listen to me very carefully, Silas,” Dante said, his voice carrying over the sound of the falling rain. “Tomorrow morning, you are going to pack up every piece of garbage you own, sign over every illegal asset in Bellhaven, and leave this state forever. If I see your face in this city after sunset tomorrow, I won't send my men. I will come for you myself.”

Silas swallowed hard, looking at the ice in Dante’s eyes, then at the wall of barrels aimed at his chest. He knew Dante Caruso didn't make empty threats.

“Get out of my sight,” Dante ordered coldly.

Silas slowly lowered his weapon, stepping back into his car without another word, fleeing into the night.
