Chapter 9 - The Birth of a Legacy

Chaos erupted in the dark warehouse.

Laser sights sliced through the blackness. Anton and a team of twenty elite operatives had been hiding in the catwalks above. They didn't shoot to kill; they shot to disable. Flashbangs went off, blinding Victor's mercenaries. Within sixty seconds, the warehouse was flooded with harsh tactical lights, and every single one of Victor's men was on the ground, disarmed and zip-tied.

Julian walked slowly toward Victor, who was on his knees, dropping his gun in sheer terror. Camila was sobbing hysterically on the floor.

"You... you set me up," Victor stammered, his arrogant facade crumbling.

"I recorded this entire conversation," Julian said, holding up a small device. "The embezzlement, the kidnapping, the attempted murder. The police are waiting outside. You are going to spend the rest of your pathetic life in a maximum-security cell."

Julian delivered a swift, brutal punch to Victor’s jaw, knocking him out cold. It was the most satisfying physical act of his life.

Just as the police sirens began wailing in the distance, Julian’s satellite phone rang. It was the chalet.

"Boss," the guard on the other end said frantically. "You need to get back here. Now. Her water just broke."

Julian’s heart leaped into his throat. He sprinted to his car, leaving Anton to hand the traitors over to the authorities. He drove back up the mountain roads like a madman, breaking every speed limit known to man.

He burst into the chalet just as Dr. Aris was rolling up his sleeves in the master bedroom.

Elena was gripping the bedsheets, sweating and panting heavily. She looked up, her eyes widening as Julian rushed to her side, grabbing her hand.

"I'm here," he panted, pressing a kiss to her damp forehead. "I'm here. It's over. They're gone, Elena. We're free."

"It hurts, Julian!" she cried out as another contraction hit.

"Push, Elena!" Dr. Aris instructed.

For the next two hours, Julian didn't leave her side. He whispered promises of a beautiful future, of safety, of a love that would never be broken again. And as the first light of dawn broke over the snow-capped Swiss Alps, a sharp, piercing cry echoed through the chalet.

"A healthy, beautiful baby girl," Dr. Aris smiled, wrapping the infant in a warm blanket and placing her on Elena’s chest.

Julian broke down. He rested his head against Elena’s shoulder, wrapping his arms around both of his girls, sobbing with pure, unfiltered joy.
