Before the day ended, Vivienne’s authority over every family financial account was suspended.
Douglas lost access to the estate systems while an independent review continued.
All relevant digital records were preserved.
Outside legal and financial advisers were brought in to determine how far the transfers had gone and ensure every affected employee was made whole.
By 11 p.m., every confirmed missing paycheck had been restored with additional compensation.
Tessa received her notification a few minutes later.
She stared at the amount on her phone.
Then she handed the phone to Lucy.
Lucy looked at the screen.
“Mom, it’s there.”
Tessa sat down.
For weeks, she had tried to protect her daughter from her fear.
Now she finally allowed herself to cry.
Lucy wrapped both arms around her.
Julian quietly turned away.
He had not personally moved the money.
He had not written the notes.
He had not created the plan.
But none of those facts made him feel innocent.
It had happened inside his house.
Through accounts bearing his family name.
