The next morning, Nora and I sat together in silence.
The message stayed between us like an unopened letter.
Neither of us wanted to make assumptions.
Not about Marcus.
Not about Claire.
Not about a person neither of us knew.
Because after everything Nora had experienced, we understood something important.
The truth had to be discovered.
Not imagined.
“I don’t know what to feel,” Nora admitted.
I looked at her.
“That’s okay.”
“What if there’s more?”
“There probably is.”
She looked surprised by my answer.
I continued.
“But more doesn’t always mean worse.”
