The kind where people searched for the right words and sometimes failed.

Nora started therapy.

She rebuilt friendships.

She returned to hobbies she had abandoned.

She planted flowers on her balcony.

Small things.

Important things.

One afternoon, I found her painting an old wooden chair.

“You’re restoring furniture now?”

She smiled.

“I guess.”

“Why?”

She looked at the chair.
