Chapter 1 - The Outcast and the Billionaire

The Billionaire’s Fiancée Cruelly Threw the Black Maid’s Elderly Mother Out Into the Street—But When He Arrived and Called the Woman “Mom,” Everyone Froze in Shock as a Hidden Family Secret Finally Came to Light
Arabella Crest seized Ruth Dawson by the collar before the elderly woman could take a second step into Veil Manor.
“You were told to use the servants’ entrance.”
Ruth, a 64-year-old black woman in a rain-darkened coat, held a small wooden box against her chest. She had come to see her daughter, Kira, who worked as a maid inside the mansion. Kira rushed from the dining hall.
“Let go of my mother.”
Arabella ignored her. She dragged Ruth across the marble foyer, pushed open the front doors, and threw her onto the wet street.
Ruth struck the pavement hard. At that exact moment, billionaire Sebastian Veil stepped from his car. He saw the woman on the ground, dropped his briefcase, and ran toward her.
“Mom.
” Every guest waiting for the engagement dinner fell silent.
Sebastian knelt in the rain and wrapped his coat around Ruth’s shoulders.
Kira stared at him.
“You know my mother.
” Ruth touched Sebastian’s face.
“My little lion.”
His eyes filled instantly.
“No one has called me that in 20 years.”
Arabella stood beneath the portico, pale with anger.
“This woman entered without permission.”
“She raised me,” Sebastian said.
The words struck harder than a shout.
After Sebastian’s mother died during childbirth, his father employed Ruth as a caregiver.
For 8 years, she fed him, protected him from his violent uncle, and sat outside his bedroom whenever nightmares woke him. Then Ruth vanished.
His family claimed she had stolen a diamond necklace and fled the country. Ruth shook her head.
“I never stole from you.”
“I know,” Sebastian whispered.
“I found the necklace inside my uncle’s desk.
” Kira looked between them.
“Mom, why did you never tell me?
Because the Veil family promised to destroy your life if I spoke his name. Sebastian stood.
Who threatened you? Ruth looked at Arabella. The same family that chose your bride.
Arabella laughed. She appears on our engagement night and suddenly has a conspiracy to sell. Ruth lifted the wooden box.
I did not come for money. Sebastian reached for it, but Arabella stepped between them.
Security should examine that first. Kira noticed her trembling hand.
You know what’s inside.
May you like
I know nothing. Ruth tightened her grip.
This belonged to Sebastian’s mother.
