Chapter 12 - The Battle of Pier 12

The breach of Warehouse B was swift, violent, and executed with overwhelming tactical superiority.

At Adrian’s signal, a concussive breaching charge shattered the rear reinforced service doors in an explosion of sparks and concrete dust.

Flashbang grenades illuminated the cavernous interior of the warehouse in blinding bursts of white light, disorienting the perimeter guards. Adrian’s tactical operators moved in two synchronized fire teams, sweeping the loading bays with precision non-lethal and suppressed fire, neutralizing eight armed mercenaries in under forty-five seconds.

Adrian strode through the main floor, his weapon raised, advancing toward the freight elevator platform where the lead technician was desperately attempting to initiate a hard-drive purge on the primary server racks.

“Step away from the console,” Adrian commanded, his voice slicing through the hum of the cooling fans.

The technician, a nervous man in his late thirties wearing a tactical headset, spun around, his hands flying into the air as he backed against the steel container. “Don’t shoot! I’m just a contracted systems engineer! I was hired by Vanguard Horizon to calibrate the receivers!”

Marco stepped forward, pinning the engineer against the container and securing his wrists with heavy zip-ties.

Adrian inspected the glowing terminal screen. The interface displayed a live digital map of New York Harbor, with red tracking nodes highlighting every commercial vessel, customs patrol boat, and private transport linked to the Moretti logistics network.

“Who has the master decryption key?” Adrian asked, his voice cold as ice.

“Victor Vance!” the technician stammered, trembling in terror. “He’s monitoring the feed from a private yacht anchored three miles offshore outside federal territorial waters! He has an encrypted satellite uplink connected to this terminal!”

Adrian looked at the server rack, a cold, predatory smile touching his lips.

“Marco,” Adrian said. “Reverse the data stream. Transmit a false confirmation signal showing the surveillance grid is fully operational. Let Vance believe his trap is set.”

“And then, boss?”

“And then,” Adrian replied, “we pay Mr. Vance a personal visit on the high seas.”
