Chapter 9 - The Fall of Victoria Kensington

The annual Silicon Valley Philanthropy Gala was the social event of the year. Hundreds of billionaires, politicians, and media moguls gathered in the grand ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton.

Victoria Kensington arrived in a stunning red Valentino gown, ready to reclaim her social standing. She had heard rumors about a theft at the Sterling estate and was practically giddy, waiting for the news of Elena's arrest to break.

Alexander arrived an hour later. The entire ballroom fell silent as he walked down the grand staircase.

He was not alone.

Elena walked beside him, radiating an undeniable, breathtaking elegance in a custom midnight-blue gown, diamonds glittering at her throat. She walked with her head held high, Alexander’s hand resting protectively on the small of her back.

Victoria’s smile vanished. Her blood ran cold. Why wasn't the maid in jail?

Later in the evening, Alexander was called to the stage to give the keynote speech. He stepped up to the podium, adjusting the microphone. The room was hushed.

"We are here tonight to talk about trust, transparency, and building a better future," Alexander began, his voice echoing through the speakers. "But before we do, I believe in cleaning up one's own house."

He pressed a button on a remote. The massive screens behind him, meant for charity slides, suddenly flickered.

An audio recording played over the ballroom speakers. It was Victoria’s voice. "I need her removed. I need Alexander to believe she is a gold-digger, a thief, an unfit mother."

The ballroom erupted into gasps.

The screen flashed to bank records, showing a transfer of $100,000 from Victoria’s offshore account to Marcus, the known criminal. Then, the security footage of Marcus sneaking into the Sterling estate played for the entire world to see.

Victoria stood frozen in the center of the room, all eyes turning toward her. The horror, the sheer, unadulterated humiliation, was absolute.

"Victoria Kensington," Alexander said, staring directly at her from the stage. "The police are waiting for you in the lobby. You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit grand larceny, trespassing, and fraud."

Victoria let out a strangled cry, dropping her champagne flute. It shattered on the marble floor—just like the peace in the Sterling foyer had shattered weeks ago. As two uniformed officers walked into the ballroom and escorted her out in handcuffs, the high-society crowd whispered and pointed, her reputation permanently reduced to ash.

Alexander stepped down from the stage and walked straight to Elena. He didn't care about the cameras. He didn't care about the billionaires watching. He took her face in his hands and kissed her, a promise sealed in front of the entire world.
