Chapter 5 - The Truth That Changed Everything

Alexander stared at the old photograph.

“My father knew your mother?”

Amara nodded, tears filling her eyes.

“My mother never told me everything. She only said your father promised to help our family, then disappeared when my father died.”

Alexander looked at Daniel lying on the hospital bed.

Suddenly, everything made sense.

He called his family's lawyer and demanded the old records.

Within an hour, the truth came out.

Years ago, Alexander's father had secretly had a relationship with Amara's mother. Before he died, he had left money in a trust for her children—but Alexander's uncle had hidden the documents and taken the money.

Daniel wasn't Alexander's brother, but his medical emergency had uncovered a family secret that had been buried for decades.

Alexander immediately ordered the trust to be restored.

He also paid every remaining hospital bill.

Days later, Daniel finally opened his eyes.

“Amara…”

She burst into tears and hugged him.

“My brother! You're awake!”

Alexander stood quietly at the doorway.

Amara looked at him.

“You saved his life.”

Alexander shook his head.

“You saved him. I only helped.”

Then he removed the expensive ring he had been wearing.

“My engagement with Victoria is over.”

Amara looked surprised.

“You don't have to do that because of me.”

“I know.”

He smiled.

“I’m doing it because I finally understand what I want.”

He reached for her hand.

“I don't want you because you're my maid. I want you because of the woman you are.”

Amara smiled through her tears.

“But what about the money?”

“Forget it,” Alexander said. “You never owed me anything.”

Amara looked at him for a long moment.

Then she whispered,

“Thank you.”

Months later, Daniel fully recovered.

Amara left her job as a maid and started her own catering business, funded by her savings and Alexander's support—not as payment for the past, but as an investment in her future.

And Alexander?

He discovered that the woman he thought was simply his maid had become the most important person in his life.

Their relationship began with desperation, a terrible misunderstanding, and a secret buried for years.
