Chapter 11 - The Documents That Changed Everything

The following morning, I met with an independent attorney and a financial specialist.

Natalie brought copies of every message, letter, and financial document she had saved.

Meredith provided records showing that several account permissions had been changed during the months when Natalie and I were separated.

The evidence didn’t answer every question immediately.

But it was enough to begin a formal review.

I also learned that Natalie had moved between temporary addresses while trying to rebuild her life.

She had worked at a medical office during the day and taken evening classes to qualify for a better position.

She never stopped telling Harper that I loved her.

Even when she believed I had chosen another woman.

That truth hurt more than anything.

I had spent two years listening to people who spoke confidently about Natalie’s character.

Meanwhile, the woman I once promised to cherish had been raising our daughter with very little support.

I couldn’t change the past.

But I could finally stop allowing other people to control what happened next.
