Chapter 32 - THE DECISION

I went to Saint Thomas Aquinas after closing.
Sat on the same wooden pew.
The church had been renovated.
New cushions.
Different hymnals.
Same colored light across the floor.
I looked at the doors my parents had walked through twenty years earlier.
Then at Hannah’s photograph.
I did not feel God giving me an answer.
No sign.
No voice.
Just myself.
That mattered.
I called Rebecca.
“I’ll donate.”
Then I added:
“This is for Hannah.”
“I understand.”
“No family reunion.”
“I understand.”
“No medical details to my parents unless necessary for her care.”
“We’ll follow the privacy plan we’ve discussed.”

I closed my eyes.
“Okay.”
