The transplant process became more serious from there.
The donor advocate explained something that frightened me.
I retained the right to withdraw.
But once Hannah began the conditioning regimen used to prepare her body for transplant, withdrawing could place her in grave danger because treatment would suppress or destroy much of her existing marrow function.
“So you’re asking me to be absolutely sure before that starts.”
