Chapter 10 - A New Life

A year later, the penthouse was filled with the sound of laughter. My beautiful daughter, Lily, was taking her first steps across the custom Persian rug.
I watched from the sofa, sipping champagne. I had just closed a massive commercial real estate deal. I was the undisputed queen of my own castle.
Julian sat on the floor, clapping as Lily wobbled into his arms. He had signed every document, gone to every therapy session, and worked tirelessly to prove he had changed. We weren't re-married, and maybe we never would be. He was on probation, but he was a good father to Lily.
He looked up at me, admiration and respect in his eyes—respect he had learned the hard way.
"You're amazing, Sarah," he smiled.
