Chapter 15 - THE END OF THE SHADOWS

Night fell over Chicago, painting the city sky in shades of deep indigo and velvet black.

From the quiet gardens of the estate, the city lights twinkled like thousands of tiny diamonds.

Lorenzo held me tight in his arms as we stood together at the edge of the terrace.

The danger of the past was gone, replaced by a deep, unbreakable peace.

I looked down at the bandaged mark still faint on his palm.

It was a permanent reminder of the night a mafia boss broke glass because he couldn't bear the thought of me belonging to anyone else.

“What are you thinking about?” Lorenzo asked softly, kissing the top of my head.

“I was thinking about the night we met,” I said, smiling against his chest.

“When you asked if I had a boyfriend.”

Lorenzo chuckled warmly, his arms tightening around me.

“And what would you say if I asked you again right now?”

I turned in his arms, wrapping my hands around his neck and looking deep into his dark eyes.

“I’d tell you that my heart belongs to the Don,” I whispered.

“And it will for the rest of my life.”

Lorenzo smiled—a true, beautiful smile reserved only for me—and brought his lips down to mine in a long, eternal kiss under the Chicago stars.
