Chapter 6 - THE ASSAULT
Dmitri rushed into the room, his suit covered in dust and his weapon drawn.
"Boss, we have a breach," Dmitri shouted over the sudden blare of security sirens.
"Leon’s loyalists found the location."
"They brought a heavily armed strike team, and they are at the front gates."
Victor was on his feet instantly, his romantic demeanor vanishing into stone-cold fury.
He pulled a sleek handgun from his desk drawer and handed a smaller pistol to Lena.
"Do you know how to use this?" Victor asked sharply.
"No," Lena admitted, her hands shaking as she took the cold metal.
"Keep the safety off, point, and pull the trigger," Victor instructed.
"Dmitri, get Daniel and secure them in the underground panic room."
"I am not leaving you up here alone!" Lena yelled over the sound of breaking glass in the hallway.
"You are going into that vault, Lena!" Victor roared, his eyes wild with adrenaline.
"If they get to you, they will use you to break me."
Lena wanted to argue, but Dmitri grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the hidden staircase.

As she ran down into the darkness, she heard the first rapid bursts of gunfire erupt above them.
She prayed to whatever gods were listening that Victor would survive the night.
