Chapter 15 - Ruthless Blackmail

Emma's phone began vibrating frantically in her hand. It was a text message from an unknown number. When she opened it, her heart skipped a beat: it was a real-time photo of Victoria's cabin. An unmarked cruiser was parked in the driveway.
Sign the agreement, and the arrest warrant against Victoria as an accessory to Helena Vance's death disappears. If you don't sign, your mother spends the rest of her days in a maximum-security prison.
Emma stared at Sora. The younger woman maintained an angelic, unbothered expression amidst the chaos surrounding her.
"It was you..." Emma whispered. "You gave the DA the evidence against my mother."
"Richard taught me that family is only useful when you can blackmail them," Sora answered without blinking. Julian lunged at Sora, but the floor's security guards tackled him to the ground, pinning his arms behind his back.

"Emma, don't do it!" Julian screamed, his face pressed against the marble floor. "If you sign, you make yourself an accomplice! Richard wins from behind bars!"
Emma looked at the pen in her hand, then at the photo of her mother on her phone screen, and finally at the board registry sheet. The air in the boardroom turned suffocating.
