Chapter 7: The Garden of Memories

Unaware of the board meeting's tension, Sarah was tending to the rose bushes—a task she took on just to be outside. Alexander found her there, his tailored suit a stark contrast to her soiled gardening gloves. He looked exhausted, the weight of his empire pressing heavily upon his shoulders. "Can I help?" he asked suddenly, surprising her. Before she could protest, he was kneeling in the dirt beside her, awkwardly pulling at weeds. Sarah couldn't help but laugh softly, a sound that made Alexander pause. "You're doing it wrong, Mr. Sterling. You're pulling the flowers." He smiled, a genuine, unguarded expression. "Call me Alexander, please." In the quiet sanctuary of the garden, they spoke of their pasts. Sarah spoke of her late husband’s illness, and Alexander spoke of the crushing expectations of his family legacy. They were two different worlds, yet speaking the exact same language of grief and resilience.
