Chapter 24 - A Home Built on Truth

With Harrison Vance removed and the board reorganized under Julian’s absolute authority, stability returned to Sterling Enterprises, pushing stock values to an all-time high. The media narrative shifted entirely, praising Julian for his moral integrity and celebrating Clara as a heroine who had restored justice to her father's legacy.

As spring arrived, the gardens of the Sterling Estate bloomed with white roses and lavender. The dark clouds that had hung over the mansion for months were replaced by warmth, laughter, and light.

On a quiet Sunday afternoon, Julian took Clara and Lily to the estate’s private lake house. Lily ran along the wooden dock, giggling as she tossed breadcrumbs to a family of ducks swimming in the clear water, while Marcus watched over her from a respectful distance with a warm smile.

Julian and Clara sat together on a porch swing, wrapped in a comfortable wool blanket, watching the sunlight shimmer across the water.

"It feels surreal," Clara whispered softly, resting her head against Julian’s shoulder. "A few months ago, I was worried about how I would afford Lily’s shoes or pay next month's rent. Now... we are planning a wedding."

Julian wrapped his arm tightly around her shoulders, resting his chin against her dark hair. "You brought truth and warmth into this cold house, Clara. You gave me a reason to build a real home, not just an empire."

He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small document, sliding it into her hands. Clara opened the parchment. It was an official legal document stamped by the Family Court.

Clara gasped softly, her eyes filling with tears as she read the top line: Official Petition for Formal Legal Adoption of Lily Brooks.

"I spoke to the family judge yesterday," Julian murmured gently, his voice thick with raw emotion. "I want to give Lily my name, Clara. I want the whole world to know that she is my daughter in every way that matters. Only if you agree, of course."

Clara dropped the paper, turning in his arms and burying her face against his neck, sobbing with pure, overwhelming gratitude. "Yes... oh God, yes, Julian! She already considers you her daddy!"

Julian held her close, smiling as he looked out toward the dock where Lily was waving at them happily under the afternoon sun.
