Chapter 37: The Graduation
June 2030. The sun was shining brilliantly over the historic campus as thousands of parents sat in the outdoor amphitheater, holding program brochures and cameras.
I sat in the front row of the honors section, my heart pounding with a pride so immense it felt heavy in my chest.
The dean walked up to the microphone. "And now, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design, and recipient of the Chancellor’s Medal for Creative Excellence... Anna Davis."
The crowd erupted into applause as Anna walked across the grand wooden stage. She looked magnificent in her black cap and gown, her bright smile lighting up the entire stadium. As she accepted her diploma, she didn't look at the cameras or the faculty; she looked directly into the front row, straight at me. She lifted the diploma in the air, a silent message of victory just for us.
After the ceremony, we met under the shade of a massive oak tree on the quad. She threw her arms around my neck, burying her face in my shoulder.
"We did it, Mom," she whispered, her voice shaking with tears of joy. "I’m graduated. I already have the job offer in New York. They couldn't stop me."
"Nobody could ever stop you, Anna," I said, kissing her cheek.
As we stood there, a figure approached us through the crowd. It was Carter. He had flown in from Chicago just for the ceremony. He handed Anna a small, beautifully wrapped package.

"Congratulations, cousin," Carter smiled, giving her a warm hug. "You're the real golden child of this family."
Anna opened the package. Inside was a beautiful, custom-designed silver fountain pen, engraved with the words: Write your own future.
