Chapter 55

Chapter 55: The Ghost of Davis Construction
In late 2039, the city of Virginia completed the transformation of the old industrial lot where Robert’s warehouse used to stand. It was turned into a beautiful, sprawling community park with a modern playground, walking paths, and a small community art center.
Because of my corporate background and my status as a prominent local retiree, the city council invited me to the grand opening of the park.
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Children were running across the green grass where Robert’s repossessed vans used to park. Families were sitting on benches where Sabrina had once wept over her liquidating lifestyle.
The mayor stepped up to the podium to deliver a speech. "This park represents a new chapter for our district. For decades, this land was tied to corporate negligence, financial corruption, and legal disputes. Today, we return it to the community. And we are proud to announce that the new art pavilion will be named in honor of its primary donor—a local designer who believes in building green futures."

The curtain fell, revealing the brushed steel sign over the pavilion: THE ANNA DAVIS CREATIVE CENTER.
I sat in the front row, a quiet tear of absolute triumph slipping down my cheek. The city had completely forgotten Robert and Janet’s criminal legacy, replacing it entirely with the honor, generosity, and success of the girl they tried to rob. The name Davis had finally been redeemed.
