Chapter 53

Chapter 53: An Unexpected Inquiry

The success of Anna’s firm caught the attention of major international investors. In the spring of 2039, a high-profile corporate real estate developer based out of New York approached her with an offer for a full acquisition—a multimillion-dollar buyout that would merge her studio into a global conglomerate.

Anna called me to discuss it over a video call. She sat at her massive drafting table in Brooklyn, looking thoughtful.

"It’s a life-changing amount of money, Mom," Anna said, showing me the digital prospectus on her screen. "The legal team reviewed it, and it’s completely clean. I’d remain as the creative CEO with total autonomy, but the financial backing would be massive."

"It sounds like an incredible validation of your work, sweetie," I said, leaning closer to my screen. "But how does it feel to you?"

Anna paused, looking out her studio window at the New York skyline. "It feels strange. I remember when seventy thousand dollars felt like the difference between a future and nothing. I remember how hard you fought just to keep that trust fund safe from the wolves. Now, these executives are offering me millions just for the name I built."

"You built that value, Anna," I told her firmly. "Your grandparents and your aunt thought that a name was something you inherit or steal. You proved that a name is something you forge through integrity. Whatever you decide, you're doing it from a position of absolute power."
