Chapter 75

Chapter 75: The Return to the Quiet
After the whirlwind of the New York opening, I returned to my house in Virginia. The summer of 2051 was long and warm, the gardens lush with green life and blooming white roses.
Anna had taken a step back from the daily management of her firm, handing the reins to a group of brilliant young senior partners whom she had mentored through my scholarship foundation. She moved back to Virginia, purchasing a beautiful cottage just three miles down the road from my house.
Every afternoon, she would walk over, carrying a basket of fresh vegetables from her garden or a new book she wanted to read to me.
We sat on my front terrace, the old wooden table between us filled with tea and fruit. The quiet hum of the country road was peaceful, a stark contrast to the roaring boardrooms and crowded courtrooms of our past.

"It’s beautiful here, Mom," Anna said, looking out at the trees. "I forgot how sweet the air smells in Virginia when the sun goes down."
"It smells like peace, sweetie," I said, leaning back in my chair, holding her hand. "The kind of peace you only get when you've finished every single battle on your board."
